Do DirectSong Tracks Still Work In-game?
I just recently got myself back into GW after about 3 years of a hiatus; unfortunantly I had to get a brand new computer since my old ones mobo got fried thanks to my iPod touch. Back when I had been playing steady I purchased the Sorrow and Battle Pack tracks from DS and fell in love with them. I went to download them again today and ran into a problem...simply put they aren't working in game. The downloader that used to be used to obtain the music and licenses seems to be gone now as all I can do is download a zip of the tracks from the site, all of which are mp3's, not wma's. I checked in the forums, but only found stuff from 2006 which said to download/change some files that I can't seem to find anywhere, and more recent stuff describing problems similar to mine.
Is there any way to get the music to work in-game again, or are they just basic soundtracks now? |

I just downloaded 2 of the packs I've purchased before, to check, and they are zipped up .wma files. I would assume then that they are all .wma files. You should be able to d/l whatever you've paid for before, put them in the proper directory structure manually, then play one song from each batch in WMP to enter your license info. I would suggest after doing so that you scour the internet for something that will strip the drm from your music files - I did it years ago to avoid the hassle of reacquiring the licenses, and now if DirectSong disappears, I'll always be able to use what I've paid for. |
